Submission Rules & Guidelines

The following categories of literary works are eligible for submission:
• Original Short Stories that are less than 7
pages, not counting
translation.
• Original Poems of any style.
• Proverbs, Quotations, or Short Sayings that represent any of a wide
variety of cultures and languages.
- Short Stories and Poems must be completely original works presented in a language other than English and written by a UC Berkeley student.
- Short Stories and Poems must be turned in with an accurate English translation, or be accompanied by the author's written consent to allow the Vagabond staff to write a translation.
- Submissions of Proverbs, Quotations, or Short Sayings must include bibliographic annotation (the original writer/speaker's name, the source from which you found the quote), if available.
- The waiver form must be completed and turned in in order for the submission to be considered for publication.
- Vagabond Multilingual Journal respects the artistic license of every writer; however, in the general interest of promoting multicultural awareness and understanding, we reserve all rights to edit or refuse to publish any literary work or translation submitted to us.
Procedure for Turning in a Submission
- Prepare your written work. If the language in which you're writing does not utilize normal Roman characters (such as is the case for Chinese, Russian, and Sanskrit), please provide the original language script. - Prepare an accurate translation to your written work. Please be aware, inaccurate translations may be subject to editing by the Vagabond staff.
- Fill out the waiver form and send it in within 3 weeks of turning in your submission.
- We will e-mail you a confirmation when we receive your submissions / waiver form. If you do not receive confirmation from us within 3 weeks of sending in both your waiver form and your submission(s), please
